Synching issue between TV and Virgin 360 box

A Virgin engineer recently replaced my faulty Virgin 360 box and recommended and changed the HDMI connections as he said I would get better sound (I have an LG soundbar connected.)

However, if the TV has been off for a while when I switch on, either the picture doesn’t appear from the V6 box, or I get a Live TV picture and V6 box sound. This is just irritating, so I want to put it back as it was (and I haven’t noticed any improvement in the sound anyway.) So I have two questions:

1)      The HDMI connection on the TV was changed from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 but I think some settings must have been changed too?

2)      Was there a good reason for making the change in the first place?

All help much appreciated.

Generally soundbars are attached to HDMI2 which is usually marked arc or earc and is better for all sound formats. Most people (myself included attach the TV to HDMI1)

Which actual LG TV do you have? For example  LG 55 UR6000LJ  or LG OLED48C46LA.

Using the LG OLED48C46LA as an example you should have SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) enabled on your LGTV. You can probably find this under Settings > General > External Devices > HDMI Settings.

On your 360  box (it should no longer be referred to as a V6 box as it now runs the Horizon system and not tivo) go0 to Settings > System > One Power and make sure that is set to ON.

Also on the 360 I suggest you go to Settings > System > Standby power consumption and set it to either Fast Start or Active Start.

Depending upon your actual TV then Simplink (HDMI-CEC) may be called bu a different name - see the following page for naming conventions on the different makes.
