Setting up TV in upstairs bedroom

Hi all

The only service I use from VM is the broadband, but in my most recent negotiations I ended up having to take out a TV and Sim card with them in order to get the price down.

I am currently a Sky TV user and want to keep that in the living room, which is where my router is.  I want to put the VM TV box upstairs in the kids bedroom but I can't seem to get it to work.

The setup I am using is a coaxial into the box, HDMi into the TV and an ethernet from the box to a satellite router in the room.  Every channel I select it cannot display and I get the Error CS2004.

Does anyone know how I can get this working please?

Thanks

  • Is the coax cable a Virgin cable or TV aerial coax.

The 360 box needs a virgin media coax connection to the box for live TV and a connection to your hub either by ethernet cable or WiFi for everything else.

If you don't have a virgin coax connection where your want to put the 360 box you will need to call Virgin on 150 and ask for a manned installation, if you have only just added TV to your account then there might not be a charge otherwise it will be a £25 charge for a manned installation.

    I think you've got 2 problems here.

You're correct to think the TV360 needs a co-ax feed for live TV, and an internet connection for OnDemand & streaming. Is the co-ax point you're using, a known good one?

Your other issue is the internet connection - this needs to be a VM one, even if the router is third party. When you refer to a "satellite router", is this connected to your VM home-hub?

  • Hi

Yes the Coax going into the 360 box is just from my aerial in the loft so that sounds like the first problem, with regards to the router I have my VM hub in modem mode and I use Netgear Orbi for my routers - the main one being downstairs next to the hub and I have 2 satellites around the house.

    Thanks

Need to make that phone call and ask for a manned installation, you will be able to test your router properly after that, if you get the EPG on the 360 and the app's work then that might suggest your internet connection is ok.

VM is a cable operator, and the co-ax connected to your TV360 and/or broadband needs to be the VM one coming into your home from outside.

If you were to connect your terrestrial rooftop/loft antenna into a Freeview tuner, it should work.

You should have just got the VM Stream puck. No need for any co-ax cables. Just WiFi and HDMI.
