Problems with 360 box

I've recently changed to Virgin media after leaving Sky and I'm finding Virgin to be quite clunky and unreliable, particularly with recordings. I regularly get a message when trying to set up a recording to say check back later to see if it's recorded - sometimes it hasn't.  I'm now having the same issue when trying to delete recordings - they don't delete straight away, it says to check later and the next day they're still there. What's going on? Am I doing something wrong or is Virgin just not as reliable as Sky?

  • Hi lozzz31

Thanks for posting and welcome to both the community and indeed Virgin Media :) I'm sorry you feel this way but if you have just joined then a brand new system can be a bit of a shock. The recordings, are you doing these on your 360 or have you got a Mini? The reason I ask that, is I do see that if I do the recording on the Mini (which has no hard-drive so it links to the Main for the recordings). Or are you using the TV Go app?

    Best,

Thanks for your reply. I have a 360 and a mini although the tv that we use most is connected to the mini so it's usually the mini I use to set and delete recordings.

First thing to do is make sure your box is set to "Fast Start" in the power settings. When you set or delete recordings you are dealing with a server at VMs local headend. This then has to communicate with your box. If your box is in an offline mode it will try again later.

V360 Horizon belongs to VMs parent company. It is used in the rest of Europe for centralised recordings on the server, so only streaming boxes are used in the home. UK & Ireland broadcast agreements don't allow this, hence the Hybrid "HDD in your front room as the cloud location" solution has had to be used.
