More 360 problems

Just came home last night to find that on my 360 box that I can no longer scroll down through my recordings or planned recordings with show all option. Can page up and down but that's all. The remote is ok as I scroll up and down the Tv guide and anything else that requires up and down movement. I am afraid to switch the box off as the last time I did that it failed completely as recommended by Virgin. I was a week without a box, because how long it took to get an engineer out. This first only lasted 3 days. I think my old TIVO knocks the spots of this 360.

What happens if you replace the batteries or pair the remote again?

Put the box into 'Pairing Mode' by pressing the Standby/Power On button on the front of the box for 10 seconds.  Then using the remote control, press and hold the 'Live TV' button on the right hand side of the remote and the '0' button together for 10 seconds.

Or Press and hold the Live TV and 0 buttons together for around 10 seconds. The Standby button should starts to flash and an onscreen message appears Pairing successful - this remote will only work with this Virgin 360 box

there is no trouble with the remote control. Because I can control everything other than scrolling down on the planned recordings

This looks like the local cache of recordings and metadata became desynchronised with the cloud, and a reboot should re-sync recordings metadata from the server. So, do this reboot:

    1. Turn the box off at the wall socket.
    2. Wait 2–3 minutes.
    3. Turn the box back on.
    4. Allow 5 minutes for it to boot, reconnect to VM servers to download metadata and rebuild a local index for the GUI.

The recordings remain on the box.

  • If rebooting the box or repairing the remote doesn't work for you, they haven't done for me but have worked for some people. I have always found a factory reset of the box, using the keep recordings option, fixes this sort of problem for me.

I know you are worried about losing your recordings but if you do it's a sign that the box is faulty and needs replacing.

Thanks for all your help. I'm not at home at the moment. Will try the suggestions Monday.
