No picture when switching on.

Hi,

My box is just a blank screen when i first knock in out of standby on a morning.

The red light has turned white but nothing on the screen, i have to switch it back into standby then out of standby, and it turns on.

Is it on its way out? I'm sure it's a refurbed box from when my old box stopped working.

Cheers

Steve

  • I've now set the box to Fast start as it was already on Active start.

I also now have it so the remote knocks the box and the tv on and off at the same time.

The result is working so far and i'll keep you informed if it changes.

    Thanks roy247 for your advice

  • Make sure the box is set to fast start or active start, if it's set to eco start it's like turning the box off at the plug.

Go to Settings > System > Standby power consumption. You have 3 choices.

Fast start  - the 360 starts quickly but is less energy efficient
Active start - more energy efficient than fast start but the box takes a little longer to start up
Eco start - the most energy efficient it uses minimal power but takes a while to start.

      Hi Carlsdad20

Welcome back to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear of your concerns with your set-top box. Have the steps kindly offered by roy247 been able to resolve this?

If you're only seeing a blank screen, have you tried another HDMI cable to see if this brings up a picture?

Please let us know if you are having any further issues or have any questions at all. We'll be here to help on the Community Forums if needed.

  • We have two 360 boxes and the older one has developed this problem recently. Its intermittent but no matter how long I leave it after switching on the only way to get the picture on is to switch the box off and on again. Even more recently the box has developed other issues. Losing WiFi connection even though the signal is strong, stalling or not working at all in the recordings menu. Error codes CS3200 and CS3520 displayed. Rebooting the box has not stopped this from happening.

All of this is sporadic and not easy to replicate every time. At all times when this is happening the other box is fine.

Box is set to Active Start.

  • Turn the box on at a different time from the TV, a couple of seconds apart.   Mine does that sometimes, something about HDMI handshake!!
