About to start to decorate our lounge and want to move the TV and 360 temporarily to a different room, which doesn’t have a cable connection for the 360 box. My question is, will the box still work by connecting via WiFi or does it need the cable connection.

The 360 also needs the co-ax cable connection to work properly. Standard £25 non fault call out fee for this type of work. If you wait here a day or two a VM Mod will pick this up and discuss directly with you.
As a temporary solution if you have a laptop/PC you could sign into VM TVGo via a browser and connect that device via HDMI to your TV to get full screen TV for most channels in your subscription.
