Is TV 360 really limited to certain areas?

I've recently switched to virgin and been given the stream boxes. I went on the chat the other day asking about TV 360 as I was not aware I would be losing my ability to record TV to watch later, and they said that it's not available in my area.

Then they said that I can record on the stream box using a USB device, which when looking I can see that's not possible at all. So I'm just wondering if the information I received about the TV 360 box was correct in the first place.

It's just a quality of life thing, if TV 360 is limited to specific areas then that's fine.

The 360 is available in almost all areas but VM is using a new and different network in some places where the only way to get TV is from a streaming-only device known as Flex (formerly Stream). No recording is possible. If you have the hub 5X you are definitely in Flex country.

  • If you are in a new Virgin area then you might only have the fibre optic service available and just the Flex box with no recording availability.

Read an article this week that Virgin are upgrading all their TV service's to fibre in the next few years so all recording boxes will be gone.

V360 recording boxes are only available in traditional cable areas that provide broadcast TV services over copper coaxial cables. In the newer Full Fibre areas you have to use IP driven boxes. These may offer limited cloud recording services in future, but the only current option is to use streamed catch-up services.
