iPad Pro to tv help

Hi all

Unsure whether this 77 year old non techie is posting this in the right place asking for help

so my other half can relax after cancer surgery we are going on holiday but whilst the small villa we have rented has WiFi but only French tv channels on the tv

she has BBC iPlayer on her iPad Pro  and we understand we can use air play on it to watch bbc programmes from the app on the tv there

We have no idea how to use Air play on her iPad to do this😭

the alternative is to connect her iPad to one of the tv’s hdmi sockets and we have a long lead to do this but no idea how to Watch programs from the app on the tv

any step by step help on either of the 2 alternatives to watch from the bbc iPlayer app on her iPad on the tv would be appreciated

      Using my O2 phone as a hotspot I have been able to watch UK TV in ital, Crete and Ireland over the last year. Obviously it would be limited to the data plan limit.

      HDMI looks like the best option to connect to TV.

    You cannot stream from the BBC iPlayer outside the UK. The same goes for most of the other UK broadcasters. Unless you have specialist satellite equipment installed you will not be able to watch any UK TV in France

      Well this 78 year old does it, but it needs high end networking equipment and you have to be very technical.

    You can download iPlayer content on to your iPad while you are still in the U.K. and then view it when you are in France.

    The simplest  way would be to use an hdmi connection, you may need an adapter. 
    Set it all up and test it before you go.

    If you wanted to use airplay you could use an Apple TV 4K device and air play via that. 
    Again test it before you go.

    we have a long hdmi lead and adaptor arriving today so I ll connect her iPad to the tv to see if she can watch live from the bbc iPlayer app 

    comments above about not possible in France but will be in Tenerife so no difference there- we used many apps in Tenerife before so will have to google to see if the no use comments from helpers here are correct
