That's all I can describe the noise coming from my 360 box. I've put up with it since April when I got it but I can't stand it anymore. If im sat quietly reading a book all I can here is the high pitched noise coming from it. Is there anything I can do to make it stop. It's loud!

Sounds like a faulty fan, if you have an updated V6 to 360 box there have been a few reported problems with the fan running at high speed after the update. If you don't have any problems with recordings or pausing and rewinding live TV then it's more than likely it's just the fan but will need the box replacing. You could check under the box to make sure the fan isn't blocked or needs cleaning, probably doesn't.
You will need to call Virgin and go through their AI support unless you are lucky and get to speak to someone, the other option is to wait here for one of the forum team to respond which might be 2 to 3 days. 🤞
If you do call (0345 454 1111 / 150) you might experience a different type of high pitched whining.
Throw it out the window.
Or maybe report a faulty box to virgin.
