HDMI switching does not work after upgrade to 360

I use an HDMI switcher so I can choose what to send to my TV. This worked fine before upgrade to 360 but now there is no signal. If I connect both my 360 boxes to the switch it works fine. If I connect a 360 and PC to the switch the 360 signal stops.
Is there a setting I can change somewhere or can I remove the 360 upgrade and revert to V6?

Possibly an HDCP issue? You can buy devices that are meant to strip the HDCP signal from the output so maybe could put one of those in the chain before the switcher? Though last time I looked they were about £50 so maybe not ideal just to test. Though odd that it works with two 360s connected.

There is generally no way to revert back to the V6, many people have tried due to the inferior user experience and multiple missing features, but other than a few isolated cases where people have very much been switched against their will and managed to get a box swap, then generally VM are not willing to do it. They want everyone on 360s and then eventually Stream boxes.

  • Hey SteveD360, thank you for reaching out and we are so sorry to hear about your 360 issue.

Also a warm welcome to the community.

We can see you've spoken to the team about this, did they manage to assist at all?

      Hi Matthew
No, neither the support team or the visiting engineer have been able to offer a solution. I have pretty much accepted the switcher will have to go in the bin. I should not have listened to the engineer who suggested I should upgrade to 360. So far it has offered no benefits whatsoever.

I think the 360 is stricter than the V6 at enforcing HDCP, so a non-compliant PC will break the security chain and cause your problem. Things you can try are disabling the 360's One Power, fixing the video setting to 1080p or buying a higher‑quality HDMI switch which explicitly supports HDMI 2.0/2.1, HDCP 2.2/2.3 and EDID management to store or emulate a preferred EDID profile (like "4K @ 60Hz, HDR, Dolby Atmos"). As an aside I believe powered splitters and switches are better than unpowered.

      Hi Roger
The splitter is an Orei UHD-401MV and claims to support all the HDMI/HDCP protocols you mention.

Your problem is probably a non-compliant PC, so that's where the upgrades are needed for HDCP 2.2.
