Factory reset help

We had an ‘upgrade’ to the 360 boxes in June and like others on here have faced a number of issues. I have been able to resolve everything up until now but nothing I try is working. We have a main box and a mini box. The mini is fine, but the main one has the orange light on, won’t pause live tv, recordings showing as full (the mini shows 3%), and unable to watch recordings. We’ve had all of this before and rebooting and checking cables etc seemed to fix it. I’ve done all that this time and nothing has worked. The broadband connection is showing as good so I believe it is a box issue. Before going to the faff of organising an engineer, I wondered if a factory reset would help (albeit probably temporary)? If I did a factory reset, what do I need to do when it restarts? Would I need to do anything to the mini box (which is currently fine)? If this fails, can I ask for a new box to be sent rather than an engineer coming out (we didn’t have an engineer when these boxes arrived)? Thanks for any help :-)

  • You only need to try doing the factory reset on the main box and use the keep recordings option. You will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITV-X again, also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption will go back to their default settings if you have changed them.

A factory reset on the mini box doesn't give you the option to keep recordings because there aren't any on the mini box.

You will usually have to get an engineer to swap the box unless it's more convenient for Virgin to send you one because they are busy or short staffed, it also gets the box back in the repair loop sooner.
