Ethernet cable not recognised

We decided to set up an ethernet connection to the TV as WiFi is sometimes a bit intermittent. Connected cable to hub ok and I know the cable works as I plugged it into my laptop and it's fine. But it isn't recognised by the 360 box. Have tried different ports on the hub, it lights up green when connected to the laptop but no lights when plugged into 360 box.

Does this mean I need a new 360 box? It's only about 3 weeks old!

Or does this mean that your 360 box is still set to use Wi-Fi & this needs to be changed to Ethernet in the 360 box network settings menu.

If a Hub 5 is involved, avoid use of the Hub 5 2.5 Gbps port for a TV.

  • I understood that plugging in the ethernet automatically overrides the WiFi.

When I get on to settings and try to get it to recognise the ethernet cable it doesn't.
