Disappointed

Having had to change to the Virgin 360 remote control end of July,  I want to say how disappointed and frustrated my partner, John and I are.

And in the first week contacted the engineer to see if the whole process could be reversed.

My partner whose eyesight is not so good struggles to read and navigate the screen.

The writing in the ‘guide’ is so weak compared to the previous screen and to manoeuvre the thin red line is very difficult to follow.

To locate recordings is no longer straight forward but a rigmarole of ‘left and right’ and ‘up and down’, search and perhaps you may find.

There are other issues too where someone, some powers that be, that thought their new ideas were ingenious had obviously not consulted their customer.

The biggest omission is that there is no direct , individual ‘delete’button.

Also the actual control buttons are not as prominent as the old remote and are difficult for ‘fat’ fingers to control.

What a joke. 😂😂😂

Sadly a reflection on many aspects of today’s reality.

Yours very disappointed.

Georgie & John

  • We are still in the ‘process’  Have spoken to three customer service people at different times after about 20 - 30 minutes waiting and rigmarole to get through.  We have an engineer calling Saturday , hopeful with an ‘all in one ‘ remote to see if it’s possible to use instead of the one supplied with the 360 one which useless for fat fingers and poor eyesight.

Will update after the visit xx

What are the circumstances that led to you migrating to TV360?

Conversions are voluntary except in the very specific circumstance of a new package bundle including either Disney+ or Paramount+ subscriptions, neither of which can be accessed on a TiVo or V6.

It was probably one of the 'your tv box needs an upgrade' emails. This implies it's compulsory, and will be an upgrade. Neither of which is true.

    Hi Georgie & John

I realise it's not the answer to all of the gripes you have with the 360, but using the voice control button will solve many of them.   For example hold the button and say 'recordings' and it will go straight to recordings.   Hold the button and say BBC1 or 101 etc and it will switch to the named  channel.  You can also open apps by pressing the voice button and naming the app.

     See /the-edit/voice-control-on-virgin-tv-360

You may be able to use your main TV’s remote control. I use My LG Smart remote to control my 360’s. It needs setting up as Ziggo Mediabox Next.

You can also use One For All remotes such as the URC6820 Zapper 2 (a review on the Argos website states that it works with the 360)  There are also the URC7125, and the URC1240. The URC1240 and URC7125 are both available from Amazon, and slightly cheaper than from Argos. You should also be able to return them to Amazon if purchased from there and not suitable. To set up the OneForAll URC7125 – use the SimpleSet setup process and choose Ziggo as the manufacturer. To set up the OneForAll 1240 enter the code 1582. (It needs direct line of sight to set it up)

I've enclosed a photo of the OneForAll URC1240 in between a 360 remote and an LG Smart remote to give you an idea of the size of the remotes and the buttons.

You can also set up Profiles on the 360 so you can group favourite channels together and not have the hassle of having to scroll through the other listed channels that you may have no interest in.

(The Profile button is on the right hand side of the remote, pressing this will switch the EPG between the Default profile or the one you set up)

The 'Default profile on start-up' profile will always show all channels.

Settings > Profiles > Manage Channels > Create a name for the profile then click on Next
Then click Create List and on the next screen move up and down using the navigation button on the remote and press OK against each channel you want adding. Then use the Back key on the remote (just above the audio up/down buttons) and click on Confirm
This will take you back to the main Profiles section - from there you can select the default profile to be used on start-up, either the normal shared one, or the one you set up.
