Can I use the new remote if my box is in another room?

I've installed Virgin 360 but the remote wont work. I believe the problem is that our box is in a rack (with other home automation) in an adjoining garage. I have an infrared sensor attached to the TV which i use to control the box. I'm told the new remote are Bluetooth and not infra red so I guess that is why it isn't working. What can I do?

  • Have you actually got the remote to pair to the box, it initially uses IR to pair to the box and then it uses RF, so you would need to do it in the same room.

    If it is paired then depending on the walls and distance then the remote should work directly to the box I remember checking for someone else a long time ago and my remote will work from all the rooms upstairs and even from the garden.

     

  • Thanks for the suggestion however I guess the walls must be too thick as the remote isn't picking up any signal at all. I've managed a temp fix by using Virgin Go on my phone but it's not something I want to do long term. Really wish I hadn't bothered with 360 now

      Hi welly2025 thanks for posting although we're sorry to hear of the concerns you've raised here regarding TV360.

      The way the remotes detect signal can be different between V6 and TV360, so we're sorry you're having to compromise as a result.

      We'd always advise using new batteries firstly with any issues, hopefully this helps too.

        I still have the issue. Can you uninstall the upgrade so I can use it as before?
