Can I still use 360 box?

Hi

Just renewed contract and broadband upgraded. I didn't realise the contract for TV was also changing so today I received a stream box. Can I keep using the 360 box? I'd prefer to as we can record on it and I dont think you can record on the stream box?

Thanks

  • I would keep using your 360 box, activating the stream box might switch off your 360 box, it might also get switched off automatically after a week or so in which case you will need to give Virgin a call and say you didn't agree to having a stream box. The other option is to wait for one of the forum team to pick this up and look into it for you, that might be a few days.

Could I buy a 360 box off ebay and then contract with Virgin when my sky contract ends and use the 360 box to record using a full fibre installation ? Thanks.

The 360 box is the property of VM and it was theft for someone to keep and sell it. VM will not activate it for you.

It sounds like they have just taken the new contract as an excuse to quietly shift another customer over to stream. After all, this is now the standard for new customers.

If you want to keep the recording box, you'll need to use your 14 days to cancel the contract.

Yes thats what I had to do! Cancel within the 14 day cooling off period. I then contacted virgin and recontracted for virgin media broadband only. I then went back to sky and fortunately was able to continue using my old recording box - that was a close call !

  • Hi

Thanks for your reply. I'm not aware that I've moved to full fibre optic. My 24 month contract was coming to end and I was offered a new 24 month contract which I thought was just going from M125 to M350 broadband.

On looking at the contract Virgin have also changed TV from 360 box to a stream box.

Can I not set up the stream box and just keep my 360 box?

  • Have you just moved to Virgin's full fibre optic broadband, if you now have a hub 5x for its full-fibre XGS-PON network and don't now need the coax cable for watching live TV then the 360 main box won't work. If you have been updated to the full fibre network you can only use a stream box, and it doesn't record.

The other option is the stream box could be replacing a second box the old TiVo box and if you have a V6 TiVo box box that will be software updated to 360, but you say you already have 360.
