Tuning in

360 we shd have been given a choice.

Our V6 box worked perfectly. When you decided this 360 was "an improvement" of course we had to lose all our old recordings and it's supposed to be a better picture bla bla bla but why oh why were we not given the choice. It has been a nightmare, my husband doesn't cope with technology so has had problems figuring it out and now you offer us the option of UHD channels but it only works if the tv is directly connected to the virgin box. Obviously this is so you'll have to pay for yet another box if you want to watch it in another room which I resent. We don't need another energy soaking box in the kitchen just so we can watch the same channel in one other room. The whole thing is a rip off frankly and I'd be just as happy with the old boxes. And then when we spoke to someone this morning, he told us to turn everything off which then of course turned the phone line off! He called us back on husband's mobile and still asked us to go through security. Then it took another twenty minutes for him to suggest we try connecting it directly and when we said that had worked, he still kept on telling us to turn everything off at the plug etc...BUT IT'S WORKING! We have been loyal to virgin for over 35 years, before they even were virgin, but I am so close to saying I have absolutely had enough. It's all just money grabbing with no respect for customers.

You DID have a choice, but they didn't tell you. Many people have stayed with the V6 and are happy they did so.

As per the old saying “buyer beware”. VM is now wholly owned by a Europe wide cable operator (Liberty Global). Horizon V360 is their in-house developed system & has been imposed on both VM UK & VM Ireland. It’s a migration, not an upgrade. Some will like it, some not, but it is the inevitable consequence of operations being taken over at a higher level.

In a way we were given a choice, I suppose. I received an email earlier this year about being eligible for an upgrade. I looked at what it offered as I wondered how much it'd cost. There was nothing on the "upgrade" that was an improvement on what we as a family use so I ignored it. I received another email around September about it so decided VM were obviously at some stage going to enforce my "eligibility " so I took the so called upgrade. We did have slight problems which the engineer who came out hadn't seen before but as it was a minor inconvenience we left it. 2 weeks later VM must have done a software update overnight and all resolved. I do still prefer the Tivo admittedly.

The 'upgrade' word has fooled many. The 360 always was for VMs benefit, with cheaper software.

  • Popped in here to see if anything has changed/improved in TV360... saddened but not surprised to see that it hasn't. TV360 is rubbish compared to TiVo. I'm glad I binned it off in favour of simple Freeview, with a Humax Aura which is much better than TV360. Might move to a TiVo Freely TV at some point soon... but not going near TV360.

All of which is fine, IF you don't want access to pay-channels.

TiVo, TV360, or whatever other software-platform, doesn't dictate the choice of TV channels. That's decided by which broadcast platform you're on.

Are there even any worthwhile pay-channels left on Virgin? Obviously the main one used to be Sky1, but that was gutted with the arrival of Sky Atlantic when Sky moved all the premium content onto there. There was FX but that disappeared several years ago. The music channels have pretty much all gone.

I'm struggling to think of any other significant pay-channels that are still around, obviously excluding the premium Sport\Movie channels that have a significant extra cost and which are available through NowTV for less.

Seems that most of the content that would have been on the pay channels has gone onto the various streaming platforms these days.

  • I agree - nothing but trouble since switching by what we thought was compulsory to 360. NO real support, wasting masses of time getting to customer service. ... There's no help in a robot AI... I need help sorting out how to stop audio narration suddenly appearing without any off control [3 dot bit on remote  just turns up 'not available'] on ITVX but it has not happened before.  I have lost 40 minutes of my work time- as I work from home to look after my disabled husband who cannot work the remote for himself

      Hi AnneDyer

Have you tried pressing the Down button on the navigation controls twice on the TV360 remote during the program playback?

This brings up a sub menu that contains the options :- Restart, Subtitles, AD, and Parental Controls

Whilst in that sub-menu press the right arrow key to the right of the OK button on the 360 remote to highlight the AD (Audio Description) button. Then press the OK button to turn that option On or Off.

Then press the Back button to resume playback of the program.

Thank you. That may be very helpful. I will see what I can do. I have copied it to a file for printing and keeping near the TV!

Bit of a gimmick though isnt it? Doesn't make up for the Tivo functionality lost ( plus talking to your remote control will get you locked up ;) )

  • Hi smf412

We're sorry for the poor experience and will certainly pass on your feedback regarding the 360.

If we can help with anything else, let us know.
