360 usage issues

So I have recently been forced into an 'upgrade' to the 360 firmware on my v6 box. At present it is most definitely a downgrade - to the point I'm looking at alternatives if I can't address some of the issues.

So I set a series link - I want to record the latest series or 2 of a long running program. The firmware seems to only have an option to record every single episode - I can't stop it recording the oldest ones. Worse if I delete one I've watched, it automatically re-records the deleted episode!

second - if I record a film, it treats is like a series and records every broadcast of the film! (we currently have 4 copies of Despicable Me 4 on the box!)

third - it's a box to watch tv on - so when I turn it on, I want schedule and my recorded programs available -  takes 5 button presses to get to the recordings list. can I get to my recordings (in a list and without all the duplication mentioned above) in 1 button press?

I'll also add undelete is missing (can't be a tivo copyright issue - files on a computer have been undetectable for 40 years!)

and the whole UI looks like it's been designed by Fisher Price for a 3 year old to use! it's an appalling use of the space on a screen, is stuffed full of adverts for garbage - is there a grown up version anywhere?

    Can I ask what forced you into migrating (it’s not an upgrade) to the Horizon TV platform? The only reason this is effectively needed is if you wish to subscribe to apps not available on the TiVO V6 platform (Disney+, Paramount+), otherwise the migration should be voluntary.

    As far as Horizon’s development are concerned Virgin’s hands are tied, as the platform is their parent companies product & they are unlikely to seriously modify a system that has been working solidly in the rest of Europe for many years.

    I also ought to point out that, as with Sky, their full on streaming products are now fast eclipsing the recording products in terms of sales. As a result V360, like SkyQ, is no longer the default offering to new customers.

  • we were forced off the V6 platform by virgin at the last contract renewal. I was also told (?missold?) there is an upcoming end of service for the V6 software platform.

    I hate it, I don't appreciate being treated like a child (the UI) - and if they are not developing horizon (which they don't seem to be) to address some of these usage issues then I will be looking to get rid sometime soon.

    and I'm not at all a fan of streaming as a default. I like having content that isn't at the whim of someone distant and unanswerable (and unresponsive!)

      I'd love to know more about the specifics of this. The comment about "upcoming end of service" for V6 sounds like typical offshore-CS waffle.

      TiVo-firmware is fundamentally recording-centric with a good streaming product added-on. Horizon-firmware on TV360 is fundamentally streaming-centric with recording added-on.

  • When setting a series link select the Advanced settings and then select New Only, you usually have the following options;

    This episode only, From this episode onwards, All from series xx only, All from series xx and onwards, New episodes only and All available episodes.

    You can get to your recordings by using voice control, just press the button and say "recordings".
