2gb speed, UHD upgrade ad Sky Atlantic

Three questions.

!. Is 2GB speed available everywhere, or is it only in certain areas?
2. Is it possible to get Sky Atlantic on Virgin without signing up to the NOW app?
3. I've just renewed my contract and on the renew page there is an offer of £3 a month for UHD. I clicked on the box but got a message to choose which channels. I currently have Mega TV bundle, and there was no way of choosing which channels.
What Sky channels are available on UHD, and how do I select them?

Thanks.

If you were to add TNT Sports (cost last time I looked was £25pm) you get five channels (four HD and one UHD).

Sky Atlantic has never been made available on VM. It remains exclusive to Sky’s own services (Sky Q, Sky Stream) and NOW TV. However, some Sky Atlantic programming has been redistributed — either via Sky Showcase or on‑demand box sets (all carried by VM). So, I've now been able to record all broadcast episodes of series 1 of GoT.

Sky Cinema UHD has always been on-demand only since its launch in 2016, which explains why it's also on-demand only on VM.

There are no Sky channels available in UHD unless you take Sky Sports and pay extra for the Sky Sports UHD add on.  There aren't any Sky Cinema channels available in UHD although there is a selection of Sky Movies available On Demand in UHD (currently 499 titles)

Info below from The Legal Stuff - sub section- TV

    https://www.virginmedia.com/broadband/broadband-and-tv page

Sky UHD: Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment UHD requires a V6 or Virgin TV 360 box and a 4K compatible TV/device with HDCP 2.2. Up to 4x the clarity of standard HD content: based on comparison of HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) versus UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels). £7 a month to add UHD, this will provide the available UHD content in the chosen bundle or entertainment pack (Eg, if you have Sky sports and select UHD for £7 you will receive Sky sports in UHD, if you have Sky Sports and Cinema and choose UHD for £7 you will receive Sky Sports and Cinema in UHD). Prices may increase at any time during the contract.

I subscribe to both Sky Sports and Sky Cinema. I pay an extra £7 a month on top of my contract to receive the additional Sky Sports channels (532 to 535) and the Sky Cinema On Demand UHD Movies.

It needs clarifying from VM but I would hope that if you also take Sky Sports then the reduced £3.50 UHD price point would include both Sky Cinema & Sky Sports

I received an email yesterday (slightly different price point to your offer) offering Ultra HD on my existing Sky Cinema package for £3.50 a month for 24 months (£7 a month thereafter)

    Text below from the email

There’s nothing quite like watching festive movies with friends and family during the festive period.
But wouldn’t it be even better if they were all in glorious Ultra High Definition?
Add Ultra HD to your existing Sky Cinema package for a low-ho-ho price of just £3.50 a month for 24 months (£7 a month thereafter), and take your film viewing experience to a whole new level.
Prices in this email are on top of your existing Virgin Media cable services monthly subscription cost.
Sky Cinema UHD offer - £3.50* extra a month, for 24 months: Sky Cinema HD subscription required to take Sky Cinema channels in UHD.
Sky Cinema UHD channels £3.50* extra a month when subscribing to Sky Cinema HD channels for 24 months. From month 25, you will automatically be charged the full standard monthly price for Sky Cinema UHD, currently £7 a month unless you choose to cancel by providing Virgin Media with at least 30 days’ notice. This price is on top of your existing Virgin Media cable services monthly subscription cost. Customers can cancel this subscription at anytime, by providing Virgin Media 30 days’ notice. Service usually upgraded in 48 hours, but in the case of exceptional services may take up to five working days. Sky Cinema requires a V6 or Virgin TV 360 box and a 4K compatible TV/device with HDCP 2.2. Up to 4x the clarity of standard HD content: based on comparison of HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) versus UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels). Offer ends 5 January 2026 at 23.59.

The only way to see if 2Gb is available in your area is to put your postcode into the checker. At the moment it is mostly newly cabled areas, but with Project Mustang rolling out in existing areas, some new customers in these areas may be able to sign up to full fibre. Bear in mind TV services in 2Gb areas are via a Stream box only, and Sky Atlantic is not available on VM, although as mentioned earlier some content is appearing on Showcase & via On Demand.

AFAIK, the 2Gb upgrade is only available on the XGS-PON fibre areas.

    I can answer "2" & "3"..

2: Many Sky Atlantic shows are also broadcast on Sky Showcase which VM carry.

3: Could you provide a screenshot of the pop-up you've seen? You're correct to believe that you can't pick & choose channels.

Broadcast UHD channels are currently Sky Sports UHD1 & 2 (534 & 535), Sky Sports Main Event UHD (532) & Sky Sports F1-UHD (533) - this currently rebranded to Darts. All these require a Sky Sports subscription as well as UHD. Otherwise - you get the UHD-OnDemand library & the VM Showcase UHD channel in 999.
