Issues Upgrading TiVo Box

Hello,

I have spent around 2 hours on 2 separate phone calls to Virgin Media to try and get my parents TiVo box upgraded to the 360. They have outdated equipment that affects the picture quality. They cannot access Netflix or any other streaming service via the old model. I have spoken to 5 separate agents over the space of 2 phone calls. Each with different answers & essentially trying to upsell & get more money out of us to simply upgrade outdated equipment. Please can someone finally get this issue resolved! Many Thanks!

What's the picture quality issue your parents are having?

The only difference between the TiVo & V6/TV360 is the UHD support.

V6 runs TiVo-software on updated hardware, TV360 is alternative software, on the same physical box.

The picture just keeps glitching every few seconds. They have a 360 in another room which has no issues.

If they have a TV360 in another room, they cannot have an existing TiVo. The two are completely incompatible,

Are you referring to a V6 (that runs TiVo-software) that has been converted to a TV360? In which case it's no longer a V6, but is now just as much a TV360 as the other working box. https://www.virginmedia.com/care/tv-fault/which-tv-box

The fault sounds like you're describing picture pixellation - try swapping the two boxes around, see if the fault follows the box or remains with the internal cabling.

So you have a TiVo & a V6. Before asking for a TV360, please be clear on the implications.

TiVo refers to both the software (that both your boxes currently run) and the older ("wider" you call it) box. TV360 is completely different - in a similar way to Android being different to Apple.

If your TiVo is faulty, as very much sounds, it will be replaced with a V6 as a matter of course and you will have two identical boxes on the same basis as your main box is now. Both have their own hard drives, both can record but can also multi-room stream.

TV360 is a completely different TV platform, and cannot co-exist with TiVo/V6. Meaning you'll need to software convert your existing V6 into a TV360 (reformat, lose all your recordings and start with brand new software), and your TiVo will be replaced with a TV360-mini box that won't have its own hard drive and will be reliant on the master box for all recordings.
