Blurred sky sports
Is it me or do virgin deliberately keep sky sports blurred so you have to pay the extra fee to watch it in HD I will seriously be looking elsewhere when my current contract expires

There is no intentional degradation of the picture, no.
Depending what size TV screen you're watching on, a 480p picture could look pretty poor when upscaled to 1080i/1080p
Hi there Unhappychappy7
Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.
I am so sorry that you are experiencing issues with your Sky Sports channels. As japitts has already stated picture can be effected by your screen size. Can I ask if any other channels are effected at all?
SD is broadcast at a resolution of 576i. If you have one of the larger UHD TVs, e.g. 65", you'll find that SD is likely to look horrible as it must be upscaled to 2160p. Unless there is a fault you do need to pay for the upgrade to HD which has a resolution of 1080i and will look decent on your TV.
I would add that the OP has posted in the TiVo section of this forum, and that box doesn't support UHD. A TiVo supports upto 1080i HD resolution, a V6 (running TiVo software) goes up to 2160p UHD
If the OP has an HD TV then I don't see why SD would look bad on it. However some people will have a UHD TV even if they have a TiVo (remiss of me not to check on this). If this is the case then we will have a double upscale from 576i to 1080i/1080p and then to the TV's 2160p - which is worse than the single upscale you get with the 360.
Thanks for response

Over the last 2 years iv'e tried 5 different laptops with the same outcome iv'e now got a Laptop Running a Rysen 9 chip with super fast wifi and Amd Radeon graphic card I have been sitting within 2 meters of the router and getting speeds of over 600mbs. Thinking back to my 1.5 Laptop i did try running a lead out to the balcony with the same issue. It is better with Cricket but still happens, but football is more or less a no-go i'm thinking have Sky got the capacity when football is on. I have also watched Box office on Sky in the past with no problems. I can download 1 gb off info on steam in It works Great on all other streaming devices i have tried Netfilx from Virgin, BBC I Player,ITV Hub. No i can't hard wire (see above) it as this particular Laptop doesn't have a network card which would be totally irrelevant in any case as i'm not likely to need it hardwired as i'm the only one living at my property. I like to watch football, and Cricket on my Balcony and as the temperature was warmer yesterday 02/04/24 . Actually thinking back to my 1.5 Laptop i did try running a lead out to the balcony with the same issue. I can download 1 gb off info on steam in well under 2 minutes. I can watch live video gaming without the slightest problem. So as i said Virgin aren't the problem in my opinion. But what do i know 🙂 Thank you
