BBC iPlayer to stop working soon

Dear Virgin Media,

It was disappointing to read your recent email that support for the BBC iPlayer is ending in July on your Tivo service. There is a query I would like to ask you regarding this, please can you message me as soon as possible so I can send you a private message?

Thanks

I have read elsewhere that it is the BBC that is withdrawing the code version that runs on the original VM TiVo box and it’s not a VM problem.

Personal details are needed to answer my query regarding support for BBC iPlayer ending on Virgin Media's Tivo service soon. I've posted here to reach out to Virgin Media for help and support with this. I would be grateful to receive a message of help and support from a Virgin Media Forum Team member soon.

Post your question here (without your personal details) and the forum team will then private message you to get any account details that are required to answer your query.

As posted, my query concerns a question and problem regarding support for BBC iPlayer ending on Virgin Media's Tivo service soon. My question/problem concerns my personal account details, which is why I am kindly requesting for Virgin Media to message me as their customer. Are any Virgin Media colleagues willing to help?

Disappointing to have not received any message from a Virgin Media colleague to my query over the last few days. I would be grateful if a Virgin Media colleague could message me as soon as possible as there is an important personal technical issue I need to discuss with you regarding this.

    Thanks

You've not actually posted a query yet.

That's not how the forum works. You post your question or problem here  and the staff will only message you privately if they need to confirm any personal account details. Perhaps you could post your query to get the ball rolling.

BBC iPlayer most certainly works and will not be pulled from the 360. If yours doesn't work there is probably a problem with your box or network connection.

  • Actually I haven't received any email to say that support for the BBC iPlayer is ending in July. (Maybe that is the same problem as I am also missing emails from O2 bill payment notifications so I had to change my address for O2  to a gmail account instead of the previous ntlworld account so Inow might have to changed my Virgin Media account email address to the gmail one as well)

However, I digress - I have noticed for a while that BBC iplayer doesn't work on my TV/Tivo 360 either from previous recordings of programmes or going through Catch Up. In both cases, clicking on BBC iplayer doesn't give another screen.

It is rather annoying because if I want to watch anything on BBC iplayer I then have to do it on my laptop.

    Any ideas?

This thread is specifically regarding iPlayer support on the legacy-TiVo box.

      You will either have a V6 running TiVo-firmware, or a TV360 running Horizon-firmware - there's no such thing as a TiVo360.

In either case, those boxes are much newer and there is no risk of iPlayer stopping working on them. I would suggest you start a new thread (rather than adding "me too" to someone else's unrelated one) explaining your issues...

Usually it is the app provider (in this case the BBC) that pulls support for a given platform.

Over the years the BBC have withdrawn their iPlayer from hundreds of models of TVs & BluRay players and now from a VM STB too

Consider an Amazon Fire TV Stick.

The forum team will almost certainly want to know details of your query first.

In all the years I've been on this forum, I've never known them PM a user to ask what query they had. You would know this from your thread a year back - Query | Virgin Media Community - 5544682

What's the question you have? Just post your query as a reply to this forum thread.

If the forum team need to exchange any personal details via PM, they will do so.
