Trying to resolve a problem with voicemail

Hello.

I've been trying to make a complaint about voicemail but end up waiting in a queue for a long time or the online form always gives an error.

I've been having a problem with voicemail on a landline. I can dial up the voicemail and hear there are messages available but none can be retrieved.

This problem was reported and an engineer came out. He couldn't work out what the problem was and suggested it we needed a new phone. We replaced the phone but this did not help. After a long time trying to get through to somebody, we eventually were handed to a technical team who claimed there was a known fault and the estimated resolution date was the 4th April 2025. This is still not working on the 7th.

When I look at any known problems, none are listed for our area. Does anyone actually know what is going on and why is so difficult to contact Virgin Media Customer Help?

  • Hey annoyed VMC, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, we are sorry to hear about your voicemail issue.

Sometimes these can get delay, what is the issue with the Voicemail?

You mentioned you needed a new phone, did you try this?

Does the voicemail not work when someone tries to leave you one?

  • Hello.

I've already stated that we replaced the phone and this didn't work. Phone calls work so we can phone out and receive calls but if anyone leaves a message, they can't be retrieved. When we dial 1571, we get the usual menu and information that new and saved messages are available. When we select a menu option to retrieve a message, the line goes quiet and then we are returned to the Menu. We've had an engineer come out who didn't know what the problem was and suggested we get a new handset. We did this and this didn't solve the problem. When we phoned the help desk again, we were put through to a technical team that stated there was a known problem and the estimate time to fix the problem was the 4th of April. The problem still persists and no-one has contacted us to see if the problem still remains or if there is a new estimate to fix the problem. Looking at the replies to the customer forum, I doubt anything will happen as it seems to be a litany of poor service and bad communication. The phone line is used by an elderly person who relies on the line and is worried that she may have missed messages from doctors or hospitals regarding appointments, results etc.  The fact that Virgin customer help is so difficult to contact does not help either.
