Landline renumber?

I'm back on Virgin after a short time away, and the new number allocated to me belongs to a former hairdresser's from a quick Google search.  Their website is still live and showing my number.

When I've used my home phone to contact Virgin, the automated service says that it's a business number and cuts me off.

Yesterday evening I got a call from someone who said they were ringing me back after a call made an hour earlier from my number, but it definitely didn't come from me or a member of my family.

I'm beginning to suspect that there might be an issue with this number, so I'd like to see please whether I can have my line renumbered.  I know that a replacement number will come from a pool of numbers that could already have been used, but this one seems to be a bit problematic.

Is this something which could be done?

  • Hello Armitage11,

Thanks for your first post and welcome to our community.

We're sorry to hear your landline number was registered to a hairdressers.

It will be possible from here to change the number to new one for you.

Yes you are right existing numbers go into a pool and we then leave them for several months before reissuing them out again.

With yours though this is not something we have come across before.

If you don't mind, I will need to send you a private message to pass security.
If you can check the logo top right of your screen that would be great.
    Regards
