Landline phantom calls

Can you help me please? I am at the end of my tether after getting nowhere with VM WhatsApp Customer Service.

I have noticed several charges on my landline bill all of which are under 50p and therefore the number is not listed.

We do not even use the landline but keep it as VM states it will charge us more for removing the service.

The VM agent could only provide the last 4 digits of the number allegedly called by us which were 4448 and 4449. These in itself are suspicious in that they are sequential.

These additional charges have been happening for months but the VM agent refuses to admit there is a problem.

I don't know my next step and feel helpless to prevent these charges which I can not afford

Does your phone connect via a conventional telephone wall socket or via a socket on the back of the hub?

Have you plugged in a handset to the line to see if it is fully working or not (capable of receiving calls in and out and showing the correct caller ID number when you dial out)?

Do you get to see any of the numbers called on any bills (past or present) or are they all hidden in the sub-50p charge group?

Phantom calls get regular mentions on here and they typically follow common dialling patterns of behaviour when the numbers can be identified.

  • Hey COYP,

Welcome to the community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your landline.

I would be happy to take a further look into this for you but first I would need to confirm a few details via private message, please look out for my message and we can get started.
    Kind Regards,
