Hi looby43, thank you for your post.
We're sorry to hear about the unexpected call charge you've incurred 😔
In order to look into this for you, we'll send you a private message on here. Look out for the envelope in the top right-hand corner.
If you're on a portable device with a smaller screen, click on the icon in the top right-hand corner and select "messages" from the additional menu options.
Regards,
Daniel - japittsVery Insightful Person
Out of interest, what mobile prefix does this call charge relate to?

You have been charged because they are not included in your package.
Weekend Chatter only includes calls to landlines (01, 02 & 03 numbers). To include mobile numbers you have to upgrade to Evening & Weekend Chatter.
Go down to the Free/Unlimited calls section of the linked page:

Good morning Nodrogd,
Did read the 55 pages of the "Everyday call charges" and still confused.
On a bundle broadband + landline including Weekend Chatter, from my Virgin Media landline are 0345... numbers included or not as they are non geographical but start by 03 ?
Thanks for clarification,
Moira

Thank you all for your reply. I still did not get a straight reply confirming that 0345...numbers (non geographical). are free or not in the Weekend Chatter - just repeating that 01,02 & 03 numbers (geographical numbers) to landline from Virgin landline are free.
For me, confusion comes from the fact that "call rates to service numbers" are listed and 0345 is a service number but is not listed.. Maybe it's my age (68!).
Have a nice weekend to you all.
Thank you again.

Only 01 & 02 numbers are geographical. OFCOM introduced the 03 prefix so that individuals & companies could use a non-geographical equivalent to the 01 & 02 numbers, but still come under the same rules as the geographic ones (ie. No additional charges & calls being inclusive of existing geographic packages).

You should stop thinking of these "free" numbers and regard them as inclusive in your talk plan. So the UK landline numbers beginning with 01, 02, 03 (not 030) and UK mobiles (not 070) cost nothing - up to an hour. Free numbers are those beginning 0800 and 0808 and include 101, 105, 111, 112, 116 and 999.
As for service numbers: these are non-geographic numbers and some are free (like 0800) and others (like 09) are not.

Ofcom define service numbers as those beginning 084 & 087.

OFCOM's definition of service numbers are those beginning 08, 09 or 118.
