Hub nowhere near phone

Just received an email saying my phone is going to go digital.

However my Hub is upstairs in a bedroom and my TV box is downstairs with my phone.

How is that going to work?

  • What about a multi-handset cordless phone? The "base" unit and it's handset would go by the hub, with another handset and its charger cradle going where the existing phone is located

Advise VM of same.  They SHOULD send an engineer to rewire the connections to suit your circumstances. They are forcing you to move to DV after all.  Don't settle for a self install and having to move your phone to the Hub.

      Hi WelshGasman,

As Adduxi has advised, we can arrange to move any equipment as needed. Just let us know nearer to the time of the switchover and we can send you a private message to arrange 😊

  • Thanks for joining in Highway.

We will be on hand to do whatever suits the customer - with the two options being the rewiring as suggested by Adduxi or the location of the hub, if this is the preference of the customer.

Certainly wouldn't be a case of moving a hub simply because it's easier or cheaper for the business.

    Thanks,

  • Whilst the cordless phone option is a fair compromise, I decided to see what not having the phone would save me.

I hardly ever use the landline, like most people I have unlimited calls on my mobile.

So BB & TV with 132Mbps and 190+ channels is £100. That is their cheapest package.
BB & TV & phone with 264Mbps, 100+ channels, Weekend chatter is £33 a month, again their cheapest package.

They also offer 362Mbps, 195+ channels, Weekend chatter and that is still only £59.99. ??????

      Hi WelshGasman,

      Thanks for your further message.

Removing the landline doesn't always reduce the service charge.

This is because packages with all 3 services include bundle discounts.

If a service is removed, that discount is then not compatible.

If you have any further questions regarding the switch over, please do let us know and we'd be happy to help.

  • Think I will just accept the digital swap over and not even plug the phone in, purely due to financial reasons.
What I hate about this digital swap and BT is the same, I know VOIP costs very little, like a 1p per minute, and no connection charge?. My company uses it in work and I know the bill chages. BT & Virgin will still be charging their extortionate rates whilst saving a fortune. Now if they reduced their rates accordingly, that would be fair, but I cannot see that happening.

Hi WelshGasman thanks for your reply.

We note your comments but if you do wish us to aid you with the switchover in terms of arranging an engineer, if you do wish to utilise the landline just let us know.

      Many thanks

VM are not yet fully using VoIP as such.  They are simply converting the digital from the Hub, back to the standard phone lines to their exchanges.

  • Just realised that whilst it is fine for me not to use it to dial out, would still need it for incoming calls.

Thanks for coming back to us WelshGasman. Would you like us to arrange an engineer visit?

      Kind Regards,

      Steven_L

  • Yes please, but I will get in touch nearer the time.
No point inconveniencing myself any earlier than I need to,
