Home P - Question

Hello

Just wanted to ask DSwitch Over Home Phone happening at some stage

Router is upstairs & at the moment we have ( Taken a pic of phone's) Will this type still be ok to use or do we have to buy advance phones? We have another in room upstairs ( these phones are cordless) but i am just wanted to know if the one in the room upstairs will still work if it is plugged into the wall ? While the main one which is downstairs - I take lead out of the Telephone line and bring it upstairs to the Router will work ok - and we can keep the one in room upstairs plugged into the wall ( not into the Router- as that will be the main one) Just wanted to check

  • Thanks for reaching out to us slowstar, and welcome back to our Community Forums!

The handsets shouldn't have any problem accommodating the switch over to our router based phone line.

You wouldn't be able to have any handsets plugged into the master sockets or extension sockets on the walls and would need to be plugged into the hub via an RJ11 adapter and then additional cabling running from the router to the desired locations of the additional handset(s)

    Thanks,

    David_Bn

      Hi David_Bn

Thank you for your reply - Just a tad lost on wouldnt be able to plug phone into wall and extending cableing? - sorry if i am not techinal - do u mean we wont need to put the plug for it to work in the wall( Just put telephone one with the adapter when it gets sent to all - in the router) and we can only have the main Phone and not use the one upstairs in room via wall plug?

i have tried to read upon but still lost

Thank you so much for your time and more advice on this so we are prepaired on this when it happens

Thanks for coming back us slowstar.

Wall plugs - also known as the master socket and extensions would no longer be in use.

When customers switch over to a router based service our engineers would seek to run cabling from the router to where your handsets are currently located.

        Hope that answers your question/query

        Thanks,

As long as the cordless phone base unit (the one with the phone cord going into it) is plugged into the Virgin hub, all the other cordless handsets will work as they use radio & not wall socket wiring. All they need is a power supply.
