On reading the recent letter I received from VM regarding the above, it appears the phone needs to be hard wired to the router. I have no spare ethernet sockets, so will VM send an extension device to cope with yet another device that needs to be connected?

The phone does not connect to the ethernet switch port on the Hub. There are two telephone sockets on the Hub, TEL 1 and TEL 2. These are the sockets the phone uses, and VM should supply an adapter for your existing phone lead.
