Botched Digital Switchover

I provided the guy on the phone with all the information an engineer would require to correctly switch over my phone, this information was not passed on resulting in an inadequately equipped engineer in a borrowed van attending without the cable, connectors and equipment to do the job correctly. 
I now have just one of my house phones working and no contact to arrange someone to come fix this botch job. 
One solution offered by the engineer was for me to go and buy an extension, but the cable needsa routing where the connecter wont pass so a wire needs running and terminating. 
Another solution offered was to have a wire nailed around the top of the edge trim of our wood floor, but even this would have been two extensions with a joining connector block half way.
