Sky Sports saying only 1 user via account?

I've just renewed my contract that had Sky Sports and previously 2 users could watch Sky Sports using the Sky Sports Desktop Player on Desktop or Laptop but now I get this message:

"Maximum users reached

Your account only allows a single user from your household to watch Sky Sports at a time" ???

Why?

Before I could watch Sky Sports on our 360 box (now we have this silly streambox) and 2 users could also watch via the Sky Sports Desktop Player on Desktop/Laptop so what the heck is going on? I've deleted all the devices out of my Account Settings > My Sky Devices but I cannot watch on my laptop but my brother can still use his Desktop and Phone at the same time? The Sky Devices page doesn't show any registered devices even though my brother can still use his Desktop and Phone? It also does not mention how many concurrent users can watch Sky Sports!

Is the Sky Sports Player now obsolete as the Sky Login screen has also changed and when logged in it seems to play in the browser not the Sky Sports Player? I've deleted all cookies for Sky Sports/Sky and logged out of Sky Sports on the browser (Edge) and then ran TVGO (Via the Browser) and clicked the Cricket and the 'Watch on Sky Sports > Exit to watch' but I still get the 'Maximum users reached'?

My TNT Subscription allows me to watch on 2 devices concurrently so why not Sky?

  • Hello, I joined Virgin in August after many years with Sky. I managed to register 6 devices to watch Sky Sports. I was able to watch on two devices at the same time. I changed my password this week as I had trouble logging in and had to verify my account every time.Since then I can only watch on one device at a time. Not convenient if we are on holiday and both me and husband are trying to watch in a phone. Have I altered something so now can only watch on one device?

      Hello mejc48

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

What happens when you try watching on two devices simultaneously? Do you get any error messages?

        Tuning in

Same problem for me since 13/09/25, I could watch the football on one device and the cricket on another.

  • mailto:Hello@John_GS. When we try to watch on two devices it's says. " You are watching on the maximum number of devices. To watch on this device, you'll need to stop watching on one of the others" It used to let us watch on two at once which is what the messages suggests as it uses the words one of the others. Now we get the message when we try to use the second device. Very disappointed as didn't have this issue with Sky.

I believe even with sky it's only certain packages that will allow you to watch on 2 devices simultaneously. Big Con if you ask me

        Very Insightful Person

The Sky Sports app on my android devices has just updated to version 11.1.0+584.

I can now stream on two devices at the same time again, including android and PC.

Spoke to virgin this morning got this information

According to the new Virgin media policy, you will be able to view the content on Virgin TV Go app on only one device at a time, however, you can login on multiple devices at a time, but can view only on one device at a time

  • That is so disappointing, pity this wasn't clear when I signed up. Stuck in a contract now. Looks like I'll have to go back to Sky after that. Surely a couple in a household should be able to watch on their own device.
