Sky sports app unsupported location

When I try and play any videos on the sky sports app on my virgin home broadband I’m getting an error saying the location is unsupported so the video can not be played. I can watch the live channel but as soon as I choose a highlight say from a football game that is on the timeline then I get the message like when I try and play any of the other on demand content.

  • Still having this issue, no response on the sky community and nothing from virgin.

      Thanks for reaching back out to us, sorry to hear of the issues that you are facing with Sky Sports location. May we ask since your post are you still having these issues and also do you have any active VPN's or the same issue on any other device?

        No active vpns and I only have IOS devices but have the issue on my iphone and ipad and i also tried on my wifes iphone and daughters ipad

  • Are you using a VPN?  It may think you are outside of the UK.

    There is only a VPN block on the live channels through the app. The OD videos should be accessible from everywhere, even without being logged in. No issues with either iPad I have in the house running the latest iOS version.

    Ads normally play at the start of every video, so it could be a device issue with these (Ad blocking perhaps??) or an issue with VM Child Safe. 

    Have you blocked the app from accessing your location data in the app settings? This also has been known to cause issues.
