Speeds dropping on 1GB to 276mb

Having an issue on speed. We have a 1GB connection, on a HUB5 and after about an hour speeds drop to 276mb.

Running it in modem modeand connecte via ethernet. Reboots of the modem get it back to 976mb. Then it drops back.

BQM is showing fairly steady. Upstream and downstream look ok. Any ideas?

Getting some warning mismatches:

  • Just tried a full reset. Speeds up to 481mb ethernet.

Still a few warnings on log

You need the Hub in Router mode and to run a wired speed test at SamKnows Realspeed and post the result.  VM will want the Hub in Router mode anyway to diagnose.

When I first gave VM the idea for speed test FROM the hub it was meant so that the speed test would run over the 10. IP to work in modem mode but VM messed that idea up.

In any case speed test is not really a valid means that you will have 1Gb everywhere like me at   bridgemode.bounceme.net if you was to download something from me at best would be 19Mb but the internet is shared plus routing so having 1Gb does not mean you will get 1Gb everywhere at any time.

In all respect, I am not sure what you are trying to suggest or say.

"but the internet is shared plus routing so having 1Gb does not mean you will get 1Gb everywhere at any time."

If you inferring I should pay for a 1GB Speed OFCOM and Vigin Media Guranteed speeds is 50% (I know poor right) of the contracted speed.

        https://www.virginmedia.com/legal/speed-policy

When the speed on my service drops to around 270mb they are breaking their contract.

The speed test needs to be run from SamKnows as requested. The VM test client for this test is embedded in the Hub but only works in Router mode.

When running in router mode and connected via ethernet, same issues happen. Samknows starts of at 1GB then speed drops after a few hours down to 276mb.

  • Mine for the last two weeks has been all over the place. Normally high (about 800-900Mb) and then at some point during the day it'll drop to under 100Mb, and causes the wifi on my router (I have Virgin router in modem mode) all to fail and report no internet.
I reboot my Virgin router and everything is OK again until next time it happens which could be the next day or later in the week.

This is the problem I am having.....

Drops to around 270mb and log suggests signal degredation issues over time:

      warning DBC-REQ Mismatch Between Calculated Value for P1.6hi Compared to CCAP Provided Value;

Reboot then stops this......however this reboot is needed every four to eight hours. Unacceptable.

        Hello filmnoir.

Thank you very much for joining our community.
Can I just apologize for the speed issues you're facing.
We can run a few tests from here and check on your equipment.
Sadly, it’s not showing anything wrong, So I’ll need to send you a private message to gain account access and run further tests.
If you can check the envelope top right of your screen, that would be great.
        Regards
