RS Errors - slow broadband for last couple of weeks

We're on M350 but speedtest.net is reporting around 70 Mbps.
Hub 3.0 in modem mode, the PC running the speed test is connected via ethernet.

There was a fault on the service stats about a week ago and a guy in the cabinet across the street for a couple of hours. Received a notification that the issue with broadband was resolved.

  • I've no idea why they insist on Router mode, but they do.  I'm guessing they need full access to the Hub's router functions?  As far as the user is concerned, the "official test site", Samknows, only works in Router mode, as the client is built in to the Hub's firmware.  This will show the speed from VM's network to your Hub and from the Hub to your device.

Very small numbers of PostRS errors, but preferably they should be zero.  However run the FULL test on this site www.samknows.com/realspeed with a direct wired connection with the Hub in Router mode.   VM will request this anyway as they will not diagnose when using modem mode and 3rd party router.

Thank you. Modem mode hasn't been an issue in the past. Are Virgin support able to diagnose issues in the hub or between the hub and their network?

Seeing 70Mb/s Download speed might mean one of the network connection between
the Hub and the computer have de-rated from 1000Mb/s to 100Mb/s.

Thank you. It's the same speed on various devices, just wanted to mention ethernet to avoid conversations about WiFi issues.

The upload speed is 36 Mbps, which is the expected 10%. 🤔

      Hello LeiChat,

Welcome to the community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your connection at the moment. I have been able to look into the issues further and cannot see anything in your local area or with your individual connection. How has it been running since you last posted, have there been any improvements?

      Kind Regards,

      Steven_L

Hi Steven. I probably did jump to the wrong conclusion after seeing the cabinet worked on and losing connectivity a number of times on that day. Running the samknows.com test with the hub in router mode did report a download speed matching our package, so as you suggest, it's probably not an issue with the connection. I need to carry out some testing on the ethernet cables in our home.
