Random drops in speed continue after engineer visit

Hi, Everyone

I Have joined VM in summer 2024. I had a engineer visit a week or so ago due to constant slow speed actually VM emailed me saying something isn't right and they would require an engineer to come, he did mention the cable outside has been slightly damage and nothing much more in depth but he did manage to "tidy up". However since the past few days constantly around 7-9pm there is that random lag long lieutenancy when doing speed test and hardy going up to 30-40 mbps , during the day it is a stable good 130mpbs speed. It's a HUB 3 btw.

Any ideas what to do its annoying it bugs out even when you try watching Netflix during that period

  • UPDATE; Random  drops of speed even speaking as of right now it is occurring between 7-9pm doing a speed test at the same place now I get 20-30mpbs at a push whereas earlier during the day the same place and same device  it comes at flying speeds of 145 mpbs and that is a daily thing it works fine till evening ish time..

Sam knows real speed test shows that speed to hub is fine ranging in 130-140mpbs which is really strange, there is no more or less devices connected on the router as well...

      Hi Ivanov90,

Thanks for coming back to us on this one. When you're seeing the drops in the speed, are you seeing this across other devices as well as the one you're testing on?

Do you have anything connected to the network that may be running automatic updates and thus using the bandwidth?

Let us know so we can help further.

      Thanks,

        Hey,

Im seeing the drop of speed across devices

prime example, drop of speed on my iphone

however on my mac i get the full speed (same location as the iphone) then maybe half an hour later it swaps around iphone full speed.. MacBook having dead slow speeds

Firstly... Can we check… are your 7pm issues only evident on wifi connections or do you see them at the same times on devices connected on ethernet cables?  If you don't know, can you check on one to help diagnose whether it is just a wifi issue or it could be network connection/Hub related?

Hey, thanks for the reply... don't have the chance of checking with Ethernet cable as I'm mainly using MacBook..

I know it doesn't really answer the question but the 7pm issue is seen/felt through different devices of slow speed/random drops

        Hi Ivanov90

Thanks for your post, welcome to the Community Forums.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having some issues with your connection recently.

I've had a look on this side and whilst I can see reduced device speeds last week, it looks like there's been some improvement over the last few days. Your power levels are also showing as normal too.

How've things been since your post? If you are still facing issues or need any further help, please let us know.
