  • Yeah same here, my postcode is now enabled for Gig2 as well.

If I enter my neighbour's house into the checker (he's never had cable), I can select Gig2, but if I put my own house in, I can only select Gig1. I believe this is because Gig2 is so far only available if your house has never had cable installed in the past. As far as I'm aware, it's not currently available to existing customers, or even addresses that were VM customers in the past.

Not sure when this is going to change.

Checking my neighbour's property a max of Gig1 is offered,
which is as expected for an RFoG street.

How does anyone need 2Gbps? What can you do that you can't do with 1Gbps?

      Knows their stuff

      This old question :)

Cloud backups or off site replication is much quicker if you take the symmetric add-on. Game downloads may also be a lot quicker, assuming the serving end has bandwidth to deliver.

Also running servers for your own domestic and family  use is better.

You omitted a key cohort ...

... teenage gamesters that can't distinguish between packet loss and dropped frames !

Yes an old question, and old answers.

The symmetrical upload (another extra cost) will save a few seconds on a large upload. How often is that large upload, and what will you do with those seconds ?

How many people run domestic servers that need that sort of external speed? Most servers are dealing mainly internal traffic.

Vert few VM domestic customers will get value for money from 2Gbps.

  • The 2gb to me as it’s xgspon I presume is the key as I will never touch the old copper vm service ever again

Hey Treble1, thank you for reaching out and for your interest in gaining a 2GB service.

Where does it state that 2GB is? If it is available to you it should state it on our website?

So to confirm this is only showing 1GB now?

Upon entering my post code a banner pops up that I can get 2gb,but it’s not available on your site for my postcode, but if I put in house number across from me as I know he has never had virgin media before,a pop up also comes up about 2 GB but it is selectable at 69.99 a month symmetrical, but as I’m an ex virgin media account owner, I presume that’s why and only shows 1gb for me

  • Same keeps on telling me upgrades available but doesn't show anything in myvm now if I put either the house number before or after it shows 2000 £69.99 for new customers but doesn't show up when I select my door number starting to get a bit Fed up no one on the phone can help either all overseas one agent tried to sell me tv to get on the volt speed upgrade trying to force TV box on me didn't have a clue that it's a different connection and wanted to send me it all by post only think I can think of is something the way it's been bundled onto my account blocking the option to upgrade in my account

Can you see the XGS-PON service on your street ?

Typically engineers will be seen either adding fibre to the local telegraph poles or installing new street cabinets and trenching the pavement installing large quantities of micro-ducts to boundary of the local properties ?

Installing micro-ducts into the road or pavement / verge is not a task that can be hidden, this photo was taken just off the end of our drive it delivered RFoG in 2017, now it would be for XGS-PON.

The Mustang upgrade is in areas that already have ducts in the ground, Client62. There'll be some duct unblocking but no mass new build, the clue is new cabinets next to the existing cable ones.

The billing system is still struggling with customers that have existing cable installations, Nick. For now it's simply not available and no-one on the phone can get it installed for you. Nothing specific to you this applies nationwide.

  • My contract is coming to an end soon 13 days then I'll be closing and opening a new one as that's the only way to get the Upgrade I've been told
