HFC -> XGSPON upgrade

Hi, I'm on gig1 on HFC. Connection has been unstable recently, lot of errors on the line which has been a constant but not really impacting much apart from the odd desync now and again, though recently it got much worse and I lost connection on and off most of 2 days.

I would like to switch to XGSPON which is now available on the street, my neighbour shows gig2 available (who is not on VM), but the next neighbour also shows gig1 (he has VM).

I'd really like the symmetrical upload speed. Is there any way to upgrade from HFC to XGSPON? Maybe one of the mods has some workaround they can do, or do I really have to cancel then rejoin?

    We have yet to read of a single customer that has migrated from DOCSIS to XGS-PON.

    Do be aware the Hub 5x does not have Modem mode & TV services will be streaming only.

    VM intends to migrate everyone to XGS-PON but there is no published timetable and no mod can help you. Patience is needed by all who want to be on this network. In the meantime report your problem to get it fixed.

      I agree with Roger_Gooner   I suggest reporting your problem and getting it fixed.

      In addition to Client62 's post VM don't provide a landline service on Full Fibre connections.  Also if you currently have a TV subscription with VM that has recording facilities then you would lose that as the older tivo, V6 and 360 boxes aren't compatable with Full Fibre.  The TV service would be provided over the internet using the Stream box.

      Also, giffgaff.com/broadband have recently started providing internet using nextfibre (VM's full fibre) and VM's HFC/RFoG and Full Fibre customers are unable to sign up. See various posts on https://community.giffgaff.com/t/broadband

  • I don't have TV and i'm not bothered about modem mode.

    If I cancel the service and move elsewhere for a bit, how long does it take for it to be orderable again as XGSPON?

      Hi martinald,

      Thanks for your post and welcome back to our community.

      We are sorry, however it wouldn't be possible to change to XGSPON at this time.

      We're sorry you're having some issues with the service. Is this affecting both hard wired and WiFi devices?

      Are you using the 2.5Gbps port of the Hub 5?

      Please pop back to us when you can.

        Their problem is they want symmetrical upload speed with 1Gb that the hub 5 can't do.
