Can I use a second hand Virgin Wifi Pod? (model PP01-VM)

The FAQ on this subreddit says trying to use a second hand Virgin Hub is a waste of time. I read somewhere that second hand wifi pods can be used but you have to call Virgin support to see if the MAC address is registered to another account, and then get them to transfer it to yours. Is that still possible? The model I have is PP01-VM.

    VM will only activate a VM HUB or VM Pods that have been issued to you for your account.

    If you want a lower cost Wi-Fi repeater look at Argos or Amazon etc,
    suitable devices begin at £25 and will work well with any ISP.

    Note:  All VM equipment is rented to the customer, and VM will want these Pods back. Also any “second hand” kit will not be authorised by VM.
