Any help with my very slow (1 GB) internet would be appreciated.

I'm a new customer with Virgim media, about two weeks now, and I signed up for the 1 GB internet, as you can see from the speed test, I'm not getting anywhere near that speed, I have tried a few things to resolve this myself, I have reset the network card and downloaded the latest drivers (2025) I also purchased two new ethernet cables, one Cat 8 and one Cat 6a, my motherboard supports GB speeds, I also updated my motherboard bios, I have also set my network card speed to Auto negotiate in the settings, I will try to update my chip set drivers tomorrow, these were updated about a year ago so not sure if any new ones are available, the second photo shows the cable box on the inside of my room, the box is old and branded Ntl, it doesn't even have a connector on it called phone, only connectors say TV and FM. I've tried everything I can think of, and I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks for any help.

  • Thank you to all who helped with my slow internet, I have tried all the comments from yesterday and have had success, I tried all of newapollo and Roger's dissabling EEE tips which helped and did improve my speeds, but Carl Pearce's tip, Option 7 from Fix Slow Internet speed on Windows 11 computer really did the trick, and solved my problem, so hopefully this result will help other people, big thanks to everyone who offered help.

      How we all hate EEE and the damn thing is enabled by default!
