What broadband provider options do I have for home use without sports?

My Virgin contract is due for renewal and I’m just asking around for recommendations…

I have broadband (I work from home), home phone (don’t even own a home phone), Virgin Media + Netflix. I don’t have/need sports, sky etc etc.

I know everyone is going to say call and haggle, which I will do, but just want to know what options I have with other providers etc.

  • For domestic customers it's now EE that you sign up with, and they do the TV and broadband contracts.

BT is now for business contracts only.

VM, BT, Sky are the main providers offering TV as part of a package. Others do as well but to varying degrees of integration.

If you only watch basic Freeview TV and use Netflix you could probably cover that with your own equipment such as TV, aerial, recorder box, streaming device etc. You would own that equipment and you could then move broadband provider as you wished.

Other limitations might be to do with what sort of broadband speed you require.

BT isn't really an option for TV anymore, I believe the TV part of the business is now run by EE.

The comparison sites are, however, are still showing packages under the BT brand even though the customer will end up with an EE package once they get directed to the BT website. Not a particularly coherent bit of rebranding from BT IMO.

      No, I 100% agree.

I saw one comparison site still offering Virgin Media Maxit TV with TNT Sports, make that make sense 🤯
