We had virgin install services in the road, about 5/6 years ago, but are now told it is not available?
We moved into this house in 2017 and had sky at our old address for about 12 years. We thought we would ditch sky and move to Virgin as a way to cut costs as we would be new customers, only to find out Virgin wasn’t in the road. We are a tiny cul-de-sac in a built up area of Greater London where almost everywhere surrounding us has Virgin installed in the street.
We stuck with sky as had no option, then around 18 months - 2 years into living here we had letters from Virgin about the planned install and months later the worlds commenced with Virgin vans and workers installing down the road.
We never bothered switching as managed to get good deals with sky by re contracting but now it’s come up for renewal, the sky offers have nothing on virgins prices, so we planned to switch, only to check the website and have an error message. I checked every address (19 houses) in the road and all had the same message. I used live chat and they said they need to send an engineer, but I never clicked the link to book it and since then the chat closed. I spoke to someone on the phone who said it’s in the road but they will call me soon to see when the install will be finished (makes no sense - they were here 6 years ago!?). I used live chat again to then be told we don’t have Virgin at all! To say I’m confused is an understatement.
I just want to know if we have virgin in our road or not and can we have access to it. I full appreciate it needs to be pulled from the street to the property, but I can’t understand why it wouldn’t advise that on the website instead it essentially turns you away. I know we had virgin here installing those few years ago and wish I had proof of it, that or I am imagining things and going mad!
second question
can anyone confirm the situation with multi room?
im seeing things about not being able to pause live tv on the ‘mini’ boxes, and im hearing conflicting things about whether they need to be wired (coaxial) unlike sky multi room where the mini boxes talk over WiFi to the main Q box for everything. If they are wired then this is a dealbreaker as it’s too much hassle!
