VPN stopped working

I've been using Virgin for over a year. My work VPN and my partner's VPN used to work, but both stopped working about 7 days ago. They are different VPN providers and we work for different companies. Mobile hotspots work fine for both of us.

I have moved parental controls to be off, restarted router / laptop etc many times. My work IT team have invetsigated and exhausted all options. Other team members use virgin with same VPN and works fine.

The support I've had from Virgin has been awful - they have said the internet works fine so it's nothing to do with them. With 2 spearate VPNs failing at the same time, it must be something to do with the setup or bigger issue.

Effectively neither of us can now do our work from home, so I'm calling for help. I've read a few message boards but can't find a resolution.

Can anyone help ? Thanks,

A tracert with the other end can be pinged would help

change hub to modem mode to a wired PC/ loptop to see if you get the same problem

if needed get one of these or the USB C type

know little to nothing about VPN's but are they dependant on a fixed ip address - the VM ip addy is sticky but not fixed - maybe it changed a week ago

Nothing wrong with VPN on a changing IP when connected only that went your IP changes do you have to reconnect its not like your IP changes every hour.

Do you both work for the same company i.e. is the same office VPN involved ?

Or has two different VPNs connecting to two different places of work both failed ?

Try the work laptops with a Public DNS e.g. Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, this bypasses VM Parental Controls which may appear to be set to Disabled but have failed to disengage.

Indeed, should have gone to Specsavers.
