Virgin excluded my house from Fibre for no good reason - what can I do?

The Residential Wayleave team incorrectly claimed they needed to run the cable up the shared driveway. I pointed out that the entrance where the connection point is located is public land. Beyond that, the driveway is my property; they seem to think, incorrectly that it’s our neighbours, who only have right of way over it. Despite my requests for a site visit to discuss alternative solutions, they came without informing me. After several emails, in a very offhand way they told me that the order could not be completed, and the Wayleave process was stopping. Leaving my house the only one in the street without access to the fibre service. There is no valid reason for this exclusion. They are unfairly disenfranchising me.

Unfortunately for you, Virginmedia have no statutory requirement (unlike Openreach) to connect anyone. If a particular connection is too difficult or too costly, they will walk away. And finding a responsible person to discuss matters with is almost impossible.

Have you checked when Openreach will be upgrading your connection to full fibre?

  • Hello lallyrs.

Thanks for your first post and welcome to our community.
Sorry to hear your property was missed on our network, despite you trying to get this investigated.

I'd like to take a second look into this for you if that is okay?

I will need to send a private message to take some details first though.

If you can check the envelope at the top right of your screen, that would be great.
