Switch date changed

I ordered a VM fibre broadband package early September with an installation date of 10th December (that was the earliest available). I assumed it was because VM would have to inspect it my existing line (it's fibre already) was sufficient and a backlog of orders.

I got an email on the 8th October from my current provider that VM had changed my switch date to 26th October.

When I look at my VM order it still says the December date. I've not received any equipment or other emails from VM since I placed the order.

Should I be concerned that I'm going to be left without internet? What should I do?

  • There is a number for chasing connections, I'm sure someone will pop up with it.  EDIT, 0800 052 1734

If VM don't already have their own connection to your property they will have to put one in, and that is a common cause for delays.

  • If you ordered from VM through the one touch scheme then they should organise it so the switch happens on the same da and you won't be left without broadband.

If you organised the switch yourself, you shouldn't cancel the old contract until the new one is installed and working, because VM installation dates are unreliable.

In almost all cases, VM will provide their own physical network cable from the street.

I assume it's the one touch; signed up to VM, they notified my current provider of the switch process beginning. I haven't contacted my current provider at all.

Just getting a bit concerned because my current provider has lined up their termination date to what VM notified them of
