Seeking Advice on Virgin Broadband Installation

Hi,

I recently purchased a new first-floor flat and am exploring options for Virgin Broadband installation. My ideal setup would have the entry point at the rear of the property (where my office is located), but I’m unsure about the feasibility.

For reference, I’ve attached an image outlining the property layout: https://postimg.cc/R3bGzBym

  • Red: Boundaries of my flat
  • Brown: Shared right of access path
  • Blue: Shared garden
  • Green: My private garden
  • Purple: Preferred cable route (rear entry)

The Virgin street cable appears to run at the front of the property (marked as blue dot). If the installation requires running the cable through the front gardens, I’d need my neighbor’s permission—which I’d like to avoid. Additionally, a front entry would mean routing cables internally to reach the back, which isn’t ideal.

Is it possible to have the cable run through my private garden and up the back of the property instead? Or are there restrictions since the street line is at the front? Any alternative solutions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jay

VM's contractors who run the external cables will always use the nearest existing connection point in the street.

If there is no existing connection point in the side street where your purple line ends they will not run an new cable around the corner and install one. It would be too expensive.

  • Hello JayWeb

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Congrats on the house purchase. I'd speak to Sales on 0800 183 1234 and book in a 'site survey' before proceeding with an order.

      Thanks John,

Would I be charged for a site survey?
