Running a fibre cable to my house

I have just moved to my new house, tried to get virgin but they said my address can not be serviced. Then I find out my neighbour has virgin and can get the Gig1 which I was trying to get. How can I convince Virgin to run the cable to my house? I work from home with kids and really need Gig1 in my life.

It could be your property is not near a VM outlet, or needs a wayleave agreement, or blocked ducting etc.

If you wait here a day or two a VM Mod should pick this up and discuss directly with you.

It is very frustrating, my neighbour who has virgin is on the corner, from their house to mine is a public road and pedestrians pathway. So not crossing any other private land, I’m sure local council would allow to run a cable there? I think I read somewhere that they have to allow telecommunications to run cables to improve communications. If a house a few metres away from me have virgin than the outlet must be near? I don’t know obviously but to me seems easy, they just need to dig a narrow line, run the cable and tarmac over it. Am I being naive.

It's probably the cost to service one residence.

If it costs, for example, £2000 it's going to take several years to break even.

  • Good news for me, I’ve managed to agree with Virgin to run the cable. The issue was the cost of construction work being over budget. I spoke to a very nice man from virgin and he run through all the options with me. I am going to have to pay more monthly but that meant the budget for works would be higher which means the works are now within budget to commence.
