VM are usually very reluctant to remove them in case a future resident might want to use them. Give them a couple of weeks to respond, but if you have to remove the cable and box yourself they are quite harmless.

Hi colshep 👋 Thank you for your query and welcome to the Virgin Media Community 😀
Would removing the unwanted external box and cable yourself be possible or would you definitely like us to look into arranging an engineer visit if we can?
Please pop back to us at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your support jpeg1 👍

Hi Daniel
We can remove the box and the cable that runs down the house. However we wont be able to remove the section of the cable goes across the road and is attached to a telegraph pole this would need to be removed by an engineer.

Hi Colshep 👋 Thanks for getting back to us!
We will need to confirm a few details so we can arrange getting the cabling removed.

Overhead cable drops are not normally removed unless they are a safety hazard. This applies to all operators, not just Virgin.
Also, unless this installation is very new it will not be Virgin infrastructure, as 98% of their service drops are underground.
