Relocating Router

How do you go about arranging for VM to relocate your router to another location. I want to move mine from my kitchen to an upstairs bedroom.

  • Just wait here a couple of days and a VM Mod will pick this up and arrange.  It’s a standard £25 non fault call out fee for this type of work.

        Hi wafubloke,

Thank you for your posts and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

As Adduxi has mentioned, we can assist in arranging an engineer visit to come and change the set up of your install, but there would be a £25 call out fee for this. If you're happy to accept this fee then please respond to the private message I'll be sending your way shortly and we'll proceed from there with this.

        Thanks,

  • Hi Can I arrange for a visit to relocate my router, as we are having some work done on our house.

    Many thanks

      HI Damiends,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

This is something we can certainly arrange for you but in order to do that I will need to confirm some information with you to pass security and arrange the visit. There is a £25 call out fee which will be added to the next bill generated.

I have sent you a direct message to allow us to do this with you in a private space. If you are using a PC/Laptop then you can just click on the little ✉ at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox. If you are on a mobile/tablet device then instead click on the little circle icon in the top right then select 'Messages'. 😊

      Thanks,

  • Hi, I'd like to arrange a call out to relocate my router please, Its in an awkward place behind a door and not near my tech or a power socket.

      Hi nic360ola

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

We'd be happy to arrange a relocation for you.

There is a £25.00 charge for this.

If you're happy to proceed, please let us know and we'll send you a private message to arrange this.

  • I would also like to relocate my router to a more central position in the house as we can't get a signal in some rooms.

      Hi Janya,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome, we are sorry to see you aren't getting WiFi in all areas of your property, we can arrange for a relocation of the Hub, this will be a one off £25 call out charge which would show on the following bill however There are so many things that can influence a WiFi connection that are beyond our control, some of which include (but are not limited to) a fish tank being in the same room, walls being built with concrete instead of brick, or it could even be that your next door neighbour's router and WiFi connection is interfering with yours.
Due to this, I'm afraid that we're only able to offer limited help. Please have a look at the troubleshooting and advice here
The Hub's location could also be causing the coverage problem, so we do need to check the positioning of it. Can you please ensure the following.
      •    It's out in the open if possible.
      •    If positioned near the TV that it's next to it, not behind it.
      •    It's away from large bodies of water (e.g. fish tanks).
      •    It's away from baby monitors, cordless phones and radios.
      •    It's away from microwaves.
Think of the Hub as a radio and WiFi as the sound - the further away you are from the radio, or the more obstacles that are in the way (walls, electronic devices, etc.), the quieter the radio and, in turn, the poorer the WiFi connection.

If that doesn't help, if you have the Hub 3, Hub 4 or Hub 5, you can download our Connect App which will allow you to scan areas of your home and will offer help.

If your WiFi doesn't improve after trying the above links then I will be more than happy to invite you into a private chat and arrange for the relocation of the Hub.

      Regards

      Paul.
