Pre-installation work not being done

Hi All,

I have been trying to get an update on when the pre-installation work to my home will be done but for the past 3 weeks each time I phone the helpline I'm told it will be done in "a couple of days"  but no one comes to do the work!  I managed to get a fixed date of the 11 Sept for the work, stayed in all day but no one came.  When I complained they could only apologies but still not explain what was the problem or know how to resolve it.   My date for the internal installation to get me connected was for the 18 Sept which has now been postponed to the 10 Oct but still no date for the external work apart from the repeated assurance of "within the next couple of days".  Does anyone have a way of contacting the engineers who actually do the pre-installation work i.e. installing the cable from the street to the external wall of my bungalow as the helpline is completely useless.

    Hi Matthew 

    Yes the external work has been done and I now have an external box on my bungalow wall ready for the cable to be run from that and into my home.  That work and setting up of my new VM hub   is due to be done on the 10th October.

      Hello Terry56 

      Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Sorry for the install delay and the confusion over the work being done. For want of a better phrase, we would add on to the system a 'dummy order' to get the order on the system for these works. These works can take place at any point upto and including the day of install and this is why you may see the date change but apologies if you've not been told this. It would depend on the availability of the contractors to do this work.

    Thanks for your reply but three times now I have been told  by the helpline that an engineer will visit me to do the pre-install work, I'm given a date for the visit , stay in all day but no-one comes!  When I phone the helpline they just apologise and arrange another appointment.   As I say, this has now occurred on 3 occasions and we just can't  continue like this.  I've been told my case has been expedited but still the engineer didn't turn up.  Unless you can sort this out without further delays I'll go elsewhere.

  • Hi all,

    I can't find my original post made a few days ago about the bad experience  I was having with VM helpline.   Anyway, on Saturday afternoon  I saw a  van parked up under my nearest telegraph pole and went over for a chat.  A very helpful bloke confirmed he was connected with VM, got my details up on his phone and explained exactly what was required, phoned his manager and arranged to come back this morning (Monday) to do the external works.  He came on time, connected up the new cable from the pole to my bungalow wall and installed the external box.  Excellent work.  So I'm now all ready for the home installation team.  Its such pity that VM helpline is so poor, gave me wrong info and caused several weeks of unnecessary stress and worry.

      We understand this is very frustrating. 

      So to confirm everything has been updated and you are getting installed shortly?
