Pre installation - New Customer

Has anyone seen this before and if so what was your experience. Trying to stay positive but aware it is a potential issue.

  • The green marks are made by contractors as to where they are to install the ‘toby’ box which is connected to the VM conduit system under the pavement. This box is used to pull the cable from the local street box. It’s the first part of the install.
Green marks means communications cables/fibre, except BT/Openreach who use white. Red is electricity, blue is water and yellow is gas.

Thank you, that’s very helpful. I placed my order on Sunday and noticed that people have been out from the pre installation team and tried to use a reel to get the cobra reel through my duct, but it seems they're having some trouble. I’m just hoping this won’t cause any delays with the installation.

  • If you have a look on one.network or bidb.uk you should be able to search via postcode and see which providers are due to work in your area and when. The sites get their data from various sources, including the local council who will usually have a notice on their own website. I found it interesting watching the map of my town light up like a Christmas tree as Nexfibre's contractors covered pretty much the whole town.

Once installed, you may potentially have to wait for 6 months before the service can be ordered. That's my experience anyway. If you haven't already, register your interest on Virgin's availability checker and they will email you once it's available to order.

Thank you I will have a look. I ordered on Sunday and people have been out twice and tried to get the cobra reel through my duct, but it seems they're having some trouble. That’s when I noticed the spray paint outside. I’m hoping it won’t be 6 months to be up and running.

Hey BDI2010, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, this would of been put there by pre installs team.

Has the install gone okay, or are you needing some more information from us?

  • As expected delayed! I will now be cancelling. What a waste of time this has been.
