New IP Address Assigned

Woke up this morning and as I do check TBB Quality graph daily for any packet loss issues (which there have been throughout the last few days, little spikes often) to find a solid red wall had started and since I just woke up I assumed that the broadband had gone off, then I remembered how I am actually viewing the page so got confused.

Decided to google "Whats my ip" to see if that had change and it had and I checked event viewer and the network link had been disconnected in the errors.

Is this supposed to happen?  If so how often?

It does happen, but rarely, usually when VM reconfigure the CMTSs at your local VM site. VM IPs are considered ‘sticky’, they are not fixed, in fact a residential user cannot get a fixed IP address.

  • ah I see, thanks for added info, before its usually done it when getting new modem and whatnot or going from modem to router mode from what I remember.

My last monitor I created 16/01/2022

    New monitor 10/01/2024

Thanks for your post on our Community Forums alphaomega16, and welcome back!

Can you please confirm how the service is currently performing since the new offering of an IP address, has there been any change in the standard of service?

Do you have a new monitor running that itemises the same level of packet loss?

      Thanks,

This is what it has been like for several days

Constant spikes at the top but it was doing that before the switch as well.
